Smelling Good Is Also Part of Beauty

Last year, today was the first of the days when I started to understand that smelling good is also a part of beauty. We entered the mysterious world of fragrances with perfume lovers from all over the world at a famous perfume school in France, in the country where perfume's adventure of existence began. We had the honor of recognizing the compounds that make perfume, smelling and discovering new scents by going through an intense training process. I wanted to both remember and share with you the knowledge and experiences I gained on this mysterious and enjoyable journey. Our topic today is fragrances and existence stories that stimulate our senses. Come and be a part of this magical story and immerse yourself in the depths of this fragrant world.

Birth of perfume

Originally expressed with the words 'Through smoke and burn' and known as 'fragrant smoke' in Latin, its birth dates back to Mesopotamia 6 thousand years ago, sometimes believed to be a gift sent to the gods, and starting with the philosophy that it is the sweat of the gods. The perfume, which comes to life with the burning of aromatic materials and fragrant oils, has a long history. It was a means of communication between gods and humans in ancient times.

Modern milestone

This special mixture, which was specially prepared for the famous Hungarian queen Elisabeth von Ungarn, obtained from a mixture of essential oil and rosemary oil and alcohol, and called 'Hungarian water', took its place in history as the secret of magnificent beauty, and thus Hungarians were the first to introduce modern perfume to the world.

Use in french

In the 18th century, French doctors found the use of water very dangerous. They also adopted the idea that hot water opens the pores, so diseases can occur more quickly. As such, compared to other nations, the French did not bathe very often. Only 15 percent of the population continued the bathing ritual. The rest of the masses found ways to clean themselves in different ways by erasing themselves. Again, doctors argued that perfumes protect from diseases. So people took a bath once a month, but often washed their clothes and used a lot of perfume. They also found many ways to wear the perfume. They invented a ball called the pomander, which was formerly used against disease. Scented pillows and cushions have also entered a process where gloves are in demand. In this way, France became the country where perfume was produced and consumed the most. So that; Even jewelry was perfumed.

As a result of all these developments, the perfume industry has developed considerably. The Grasse region of France is the heart of the perfume industry; The Versailles region, on the other hand, has become the showroom city of perfume.

Way of expressing oneself

Over the years, the perspective on perfume has changed. It was no longer a masker of bad odors. He was now identified with the description of one's character.

Perfume, contrary to its given name, is a very broad and historical subject. Therefore, in the first part of my article, I could not help but mention the existence story of perfume. I did not want to betray the perfume that has taken a big place in our lives from the past to the present. In short, I wanted to share with you the importance of fragrances and perfumes in the history of humanity. In my next article, I will touch on topics such as perfume, its correct use and how to choose it in the present tense. Until then, I would like to say goodbye to you with the words of Coco Chanel: “Perfume is an indispensable accessory of a woman. When someone walks away from you, or even leaves your life, it is the most important trace they can leave behind.”
